The Kingdom of This World, Reimagined
Fall 2023
This project was created in conjungtion with Carlow University Art Gallery and Pittsburgh University Art Gallery. This exhibit, held between both galleries, presents a selection of contemporary work inspired by Alejo Carpentier’s historical novel, “The Kingdom of This World.” The book recounts the Haitian revolution through Carpentier’s captivating magical realism. The resulting body of work uses this narrative to explore how Haiti’s past asserts itself in the present.
I used historically indegenous poisonous flora as the basis for the exhibition design identity.
